New software, so Windows may warn you first

GRBL Server is new, and browsers and Windows Defender only trust an app — and the company that publishes it — once it has been downloaded and installed on many computers. Until then you may see a warning. It's expected, and this page is the genuine source.

Your browser says the file “isn't commonly downloaded”
Choose Keep. In Edge, open the ··· menu next to the download first.
Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”
Click More info, then Run anyway.
Check who published it
The publisher shown is Sistemas Tecnicos Catalunya S.L., the company behind GRBL Server. If it shows anything else, don't run the file.

Your download is starting. Next, open grbl-server-setup.exe from your Downloads folder — see the steps below. If Windows or your browser warns you, here's why and what to click. Nothing happening? Try again.

Not on Windows right now? GRBL Server installs on a Windows computer. Once it runs there, any other computer on the same network — Macs included — can use it from a browser.

From download to your first engraving.

GRBL Server opens in its own window — no browser or setup needed on the workshop computer.

    Run the installer

    Open grbl-server-setup.exe from your Downloads folder and follow the prompts. The default options are fine. If Windows warns you, click through as shown above.

    Connect your laser

    Plug in a GRBL laser over USB, or add a GRBL-ESP32 / FluidNC controller over Wi-Fi. There's no account to create and nothing to activate.

    Run your first job

    GRBL Server opens on Home, which walks you through your first job: drop in a design, place it and press Start.

Using it from other computers

On the workshop computer, open Network access in the sidebar. It shows the address to type into a browser on any other computer on your network.

Updating to a new version

Quit GRBL Server from its icon next to the clock, then run the new installer. Your machines, engraving profiles, jobs and Library are kept.

Any modern browser on the same network — nothing to install
Verify your download
